To get attention for the Climate invention in Copenhagen, Oxfam Novib came up with the idea to let people think about the climate by using BLUE paint to paint your face, as if you are very angry about what is happening to the world. Celebrities (taken by the famous photographer Rankin) started the project and it went on during all the summer festivals in England. ------------------- Climate change is affecting poor people around the world today. This December, world leaders are meeting in Copenhagen to negotiate a new global climate deal. It’s up to all of us to make sure the deal is fair and safe for people living in poverty. So whether you’re a steward, campaigner, volunteer or festival goer, get your blue paint job at the Oxfam tent. The campaigners will help you take a snapshot and your photo will be added to a massive petition; you’ll be making sure the PM gets the message that it’s time for bold and genuine action on climate change. As the numbers grow, we'll be updating a bigger gallery of blue faces, and you'll be able to find your own photo. movie:------------------- http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/video/2009/jun/21/climate-change-celebrity

In 1995, Mars ran a promotion in which consumers were invited to vote on which of blue, pink, or purple would replace the tan M&M\\\'s. Blue was the winner, replacing tan in early 1995. Consumers could vote by calling 1-800-FUN-COLOR. ----------------------------------------------------- The food dye that gives blue M&Ms their colour can help mend spinal injuries, researchers have claimed after tests on rats. ----------------------------------------------------- The compound Brilliant Blue G blocks a chemical that kills healthy spinal cord cells around the damaged area - an event that often causes more irreversible damage than the original injury. BBG not only reduced the size of the lesion but also improved the recovery of motor skills, the rodent tests showed. Those treated with BBG were later able to walk, although with a limp. Rats that did not receive the BBG solution never regained the ability to walk.----------------------------------------------------- On the downside, the treatment causes the skin to temporarily turn bright blue and BBG needs to be injected soon after the trauma. The test injections were given within 15 minutes.

Ch.4 - CYAN attack: Why is Water Blue???

Why is Water BLUE? The color of water is a subject of both scientific study and popular misconception. While relatively small quantities of water are observed by humans to be transparent, pure water has a light blue color which becomes a deeper blue as the thickness of the observed sample increases. The blue color is caused by selective absorption and scattering of the light spectrum. Impurities dissolved or suspended in water may give water different colored appearances. Interesting literature about this question is the investigation \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'On the color of crater lake water\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\', in 1935 by Edison Pettit. Pettit did an observation about the Crater Lake in Oregon, USA and tested all sort of physics to come up with a sort of answer about \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'Why the water is blue?\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' It is nice to see his drawings and how he shows us why wate ris blue, although we see it as white when we drink it. Just read it!
