To get attention for the Climate invention in Copenhagen, Oxfam Novib came up with the idea to let people think about the climate by using BLUE paint to paint your face, as if you are very angry about what is happening to the world. Celebrities (taken by the famous photographer Rankin) started the project and it went on during all the summer festivals in England. ------------------- Climate change is affecting poor people around the world today. This December, world leaders are meeting in Copenhagen to negotiate a new global climate deal. It’s up to all of us to make sure the deal is fair and safe for people living in poverty. So whether you’re a steward, campaigner, volunteer or festival goer, get your blue paint job at the Oxfam tent. The campaigners will help you take a snapshot and your photo will be added to a massive petition; you’ll be making sure the PM gets the message that it’s time for bold and genuine action on climate change. As the numbers grow, we'll be updating a bigger gallery of blue faces, and you'll be able to find your own photo. movie:------------------- http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/video/2009/jun/21/climate-change-celebrity

Green Giant is a food company which is the largest supplier of frozen vegetables. It is symbolized by two mascots: the Green Giant and Sprout friend. It also sells vegetables boxes under the Green Giant brand and Le Sueur (Le Sieur Canada). In 2006, she belongs to General Mills. The name Green Giant was introduced in 1925 to commercialize more peas large as the species habituelles1. In 1950 the company adopted the name Green Giant. The mascot became so well-known that the name came to be synonymous with anything large and green in color. blue Rat

In 1995, Mars ran a promotion in which consumers were invited to vote on which of blue, pink, or purple would replace the tan M&M\\\'s. Blue was the winner, replacing tan in early 1995. Consumers could vote by calling 1-800-FUN-COLOR. ----------------------------------------------------- The food dye that gives blue M&Ms their colour can help mend spinal injuries, researchers have claimed after tests on rats. ----------------------------------------------------- The compound Brilliant Blue G blocks a chemical that kills healthy spinal cord cells around the damaged area - an event that often causes more irreversible damage than the original injury. BBG not only reduced the size of the lesion but also improved the recovery of motor skills, the rodent tests showed. Those treated with BBG were later able to walk, although with a limp. Rats that did not receive the BBG solution never regained the ability to walk.----------------------------------------------------- On the downside, the treatment causes the skin to temporarily turn bright blue and BBG needs to be injected soon after the trauma. The test injections were given within 15 minutes.

My green shows that Electricity; an energy humans are dependant of; is something wich is immaterial that nobody can store, like religion. "...we are slowly becoming aware of the material and nonmaterial analogy between religion and energy.". It's an interesting purpose to make people understand the energy consumption problem. Here working are a growing green cloud when less and less people are consuming. The less you consume, the bigger is the cloud. -------------------------------------------- Every night from the 22 to the 29 of February 2008, the vapour emissions of he Salmisaari power plant in Helsinki will be illuminated to show the current levels of electricity consumption by local residents. A laser ray will trace the cloud during the night time and turn it into a city scale neon sign. Nuage Vert is a communal event for the area of Ruoholahti, which anticipates esoteric cults centred on energy and transforms an active power plant into a space for art, a living factory. In tandem, as a reversal of conventional roles whereby the post-industrial factory is turned into space for culture, Kaapeli (the cultural factory) becomes the site of operation and Salmisaari (the industrious factory) becomes the site of spectacle. No other space, network, grid, community could better represent a city and it\'s activity as a whole. The physical dimension of the Salmisaari site, inhabits a special position in Helsinki; physically, visually and metaphorically. The vertical vectors of the architecture connect the underworld with the sky: the underground coal storage tunnels descend to 126m below sea level (the deepest point in Helsinki) whilst it\'s chimney reaches 155m into the sky with its cloud disappearing into the lower atmosphere. On the horizontal plane, the warm water tubes spread out like veins to heat the homes and offices of Helsinki. Since hot water cannot travel far, the factory is necessarily situated in the city centre, not in the periphery. The factory IS the centre. The extended space, vertically and horizontally, defines the sphere in which people live. In this sphere we are slowly becoming aware of the material and nonmaterial analogy between religion and energy. The factory gives us warmth, it is the provider of comfort and our lives increasingly depend upon it. Energy and religion are both visible and real, they shape our physical environment in the form of the enormous buildings that we build, and yet they are invisible. Since electricity cannot be stored, like religion, it is ephemeral and only exists in the moment of consumption. In February 2008 we will herd around this cathedral of energy and celebrate.

This artist paints blue skies, and they look like if they are real skies! You almost cannot distinguish these from the real skies we see outside. She made for instance skies for The Venetian Macau, which is in HongKong, this (gamlbing)city is fake itself as well, and these skies are a perfect additive to that.

Ch.4 - Bibliothèque Verte (Green Library) IV

The "Green Library" is a kind of children and teenagers (till 14 yrs old approx) book that every little french speaking boy and girl had in his life. Everyone of us had (our parents did for example) some of these books. Some prefered this hero than the other. We had too the chance to read classic literatury (V.Hugo, Dickens, Dumas, London, Verne...). So the "Green Library" owns a stronger argument for the color link to literatury thanks to the universality of book purposed alltogether grouped in one and only library. More of all for kids.

Ch.4 - Bibliothèque Verte (Green Library).

The creation of editions Hachette. Hachette Louis (1800 - 1864) was installed in 1826 by purchasing a library district from Schools in Paris. He develops funds by issuing volumes to be used by high-school students. In 1833, sales exceed a million copies.
In 1842, he decided to open its editions to literature for adults (Heine, Sainte-Beuve) and for youth (Robinson Crusoe, Gulliver, La Fontaine ...). The invention of the mass distribution. In 1852, educated by the English example, Louis Hachette realizes that the future is the large book diffusion at a reduced price. He imagines instructives series, practical or literary, for a large public, which will be sold in railway stations: the Library of Railways. The series aimed to children is characterized by a pink cover: This will be the starting point of the famous Rose Library, a collection became autonomous in 1857 and whose featured author is Countess of Ségur. On the death of its founder in 1864, Librairie Hachette et Cie Louis is number one in France. The diversification of publications.
In 1914, the Hachette Library all from his main competitor, Editions Hetzel. Along with Alexandre Dumas and Eugène Sue, all of the work of Jules Verne joins the fund Hachette. In 1924, Hachette created the Green Library, for a pre-adolescent readership. It is initially designed to replicate the great classics of children\\\'s literature, including the best authors from the fund Hetzel, Jules Verne in particular.

Why is Water BLUE? The color of water is a subject of both scientific study and popular misconception. While relatively small quantities of water are observed by humans to be transparent, pure water has a light blue color which becomes a deeper blue as the thickness of the observed sample increases. The blue color is caused by selective absorption and scattering of the light spectrum. Impurities dissolved or suspended in water may give water different colored appearances. Interesting literature about this question is the investigation \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'On the color of crater lake water\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\', in 1935 by Edison Pettit. Pettit did an observation about the Crater Lake in Oregon, USA and tested all sort of physics to come up with a sort of answer about \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'Why the water is blue?\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' It is nice to see his drawings and how he shows us why wate ris blue, although we see it as white when we drink it. Just read it!

Ch.3 - Video for plants - conclusion

My idea was starting from the idea of Green color as a nature symbol where we add the effect of music. The result is that it's not anymore a grandmother's old cooking receipe (it is a rude french citation translation, sorry :)), but a real scientific advance in the discover of the impact of music on the global evolution of a plant's growing. The waves emitted by the plant are stimulated by a human-musical form of melodies, called PROTEODIE, done after different transcriptions wich really helps the plant grow better, faster quicker. In a few words, music helps nature to go better. It can be classical, hiphop, hardcore music or better adapted as Proteodie music system, it can only be helpful for the plant. Music saves nature ? Hope so.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1yt9g_la-musique-et-les-plantes_tech - Some quotes from an historical point of view: "Thus, some farmers in the Pacific islands, as reported the anthropologist Malinowski in 1930, imitated the singing of birds to improve the crop yield ... It is also assumed that the songs sung in agrarian our campaigns were composed with the hope of influencing the grain production. Better still, the anthropologist Jeremy Narby told us he had seen Indians Peruvian Amazon treat a snake bite in singing on the wound for hours. Was it the music of a specific molecule?"

Ch.3 - Music for Plants

A greenhouse for plants and for live interventions by experimental musicians. For Music for Plants, the artist Peter Coffin presents his work Untitled (Greenhouse) (2002), a full-sized greenhouse installed at the Palais de Tokyo, and invites musicians to come and play for the plants. The polycarbonate greenhouse is filled with various types of plants illuminated by halogen grow lights. More than a place for plants to grow, Untitled (Greenhouse) also functions as a concert venue : dispersed within the vegetation is a sound system, an electric guitar, a keyboard, speakers, microphones, etc. The public is invited to enter the greenhouse and play music for the plants. Several times per week, Untitled (Greenhouse) welcomes a musician from the experimental scene who attempts to communicate with the plants. While scientific proof showing that the plants are reactive to music does in fact exist, this artistic project does not seek to validate scientific theories, as much as it establishes a creative dialogue between different forms of organic life and creates a site for a direct and ongoing engagement with plants that is intuitive, improvised, and undetermined.

ATP6 of the Sunflower corresponding to 'O sole mio'

In June 1992, Joël Sternheimer, a professor at the European University of research, purposed a patent on "method of epigenetic regulation of the synthesis protein", a revolutionary theory that would explain the influence of music on living organisms. CONCERT OF PROTEINS According to the theories and calculations Joël Sternheimer, believe that the twenty amino acids, the true pillars of the metabolic organization, each emitting a wave which can calculate the frequency. These waves are emitted when these amino acids carried by transfer RNA, together to form proteins. The signals are waves apples quantum wave nature of scale, ie they connect these different scales - by the level of each amino acid throughout the protein formation. You can make audible frequencies in translating, for example, musical notes. We thus obtain a protein, which is a sequence of amino acids, a succession of notes. Depending on the complexity of the composition of proteins, which may include a dozen amino acids, or hundreds, we get a real melody, therefore a score ranging from a dozen to several hundred notes.

Ch.3 - YELLOW ATTACK II > yellow submarine, the inspiration
yellow, the beatles, happiness

McCartney was living in Jane Asher's parents' house when he found the inspiration for the song:------------"I was laying in bed in the Asher's garret... I was thinking of it as a song for Ringo, which it eventually turned out to be, so I wrote it as not too rangey [too many notes] in the vocal, then started making a story, sort of an ancient mariner, telling the young kids where he'd lived. It was pretty much my song as I recall... I think John helped out. The lyrics got more and more obscure as it goes on, but the chorus, melody and verses are mine."The song began as being about different coloured submarines, but evolved to include only a yellow one. In 1980, Lennon talked about the song: "'Yellow Submarine' is Paul's baby. Donovan helped with the lyrics. I helped with the lyrics too. We virtually made the track come alive in the studio, but based on Paul's inspiration. Paul's idea. Paul's title... written for Ringo."[4] Donovan added the words, "Sky of blue and sea of green".[6] McCartney also said: "It's a happy place, that's all. You know, it was just... We were trying to write a children's song. That was the basic idea. And there's nothing more to be read into it than there is in the lyrics of any children's song.

Ch.3 - YELLOW ATTACK II > yellow submarine, the movie
yellow, the beatles, happiness

The MOVIE: Yellow Submarine-------------- At the beginning of the story, Pepperland is introduced by a narrator as a cheerful music-loving paradise under the sea, protected by Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which falls under a surprise attack by the music-hating Blue Meanies, who seal the band inside a music-proof bubble, turn the Pepperlanders into statues, and drain the countryside of colour. ------------ In the last minute before his own capture, Pepperland's elderly Lord Mayor sends a soldier called Old Fred (whom the mayor calls "Young Fred") in a yellow submarine to get assistance. Old Fred travels to Liverpool, where he follows the depressed and aimless Ringo and persuades him to help. Ringo collects his "mates" John, George and finally Paul. The five journey back to Pepperland in the yellow submarine, passing through several episodes: ------------ ------------* Sea of Time – where time flows both forwards and backwards to the tune of "When I'm Sixty-Four", ------------* Sea of Science – where they sing "Only a Northern Song", ------------* Sea of Monsters – where a monstrous "vacuum cleaner beast" sucks up the entire landscape and then itself, freeing them. ------------* Sea of Nothing – where they meet a rather helpful "nowhere man" named Jeremy Hilary Boob Ph.D, and sing the song "Nowhere Man" in reference to him. Ringo takes pity on Jeremy and lets him aboard the submarine. ------------* Foothills of the Headlands (or Sea of Heads) – where they are separated from the submarine and John sings "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", ------------* Finally, the Sea of Holes – where Jeremy is kidnapped by one of the Blue Meanies patrolling the outskirts of Pepperland. When Ringo jumps on to a green hole (which turns into the Sea of Green and is actually a hidden temporospatial portal), they arrive in Pepperland. ------------ Reunited with Old Fred and the submarine, they imitate Sgt. Pepper's band, and "rally the land to rebellion". Jeremy is rescued, colour and flowers rebloom, the original Sgt. Pepper's band is released (thanks to a hole carried in Ringo's pocket from the Sea of Holes), and Pepperland is restored. The Blue Meanies are forced to retreat, but John extends an offer of friendship, and the Chief Blue Meanie has a change of heart (partly due to some "transformation magic" performed by Jeremy), and accepts. An enormous party ensues, with everyone living happily ever after. ------------ At the end, the real Beatles, having returned home, playfully show off their souvenirs, whereof George has the submarine's motor, Paul has "a little love", and Ringo still has half a hole in his pocket (having supposedly given the other half to Jeremy). John sees "newer and bluer Meanies in the vicinity of the theatre" and cheerfully comments that there is only one way to go out: "Singing!". The quartet obliges with a reprise of "All Together Now" which ends with various translations of the song's title appearing in sequence on the screen.

Smiley

Harvey Ball

Harvey Ball------------------------------------- His design of the Smiley came about in 1963. The State Mutual Life Assurance Company of Worcester, Massachusetts (now known as Hanover Insurance) purchased Guarantee Mutual Company of Ohio. The merger resulted in low employee morale. In an attempt to solve this, Harvey Ball was employed in 1963 as a freelance artist to create a smiley face to be used on buttons, desk cards, and posters. In less than ten minutes the smiley face was complete. -------------------------------------------------- The use of the smiley face was part of the company's friendship campaign whereby State Mutual handed out 100 smiley pins to employees. The aim was to get employees to smile while using the phone and doing other tasks. The buttons were highly popular, with orders in lots of 10,000. More than 50 million Smiley Face buttons were sold by 1971, and the smiley has been described as an international icon. ------------------------------------------------------ The World Smile Corporation was founded by Harvey Ball in 1999. The corporation licenses Smileys and organizes World Smile Day. World Smile Day raises money for the Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation, a non-profit charitable trust which supports children\'s causes. World Smile Day is held on the first Friday of October each year and is a day dedicated to good cheer and good works. The catch phrase for the day is Do an act of kindness - help one person smile. ------------------------------------------------------ Loufrani: Smiley has been a registered trademark in some countries since 1971 when French journalist Franklin Loufrani created Smiley World to sell and license the smiley face image in the United Kingdom and Europe. The Smiley name and logo is registered and used in over 100 countries for 25 classes of goods and services. Loufrani claims to have created the icon in 1971 to highlight good news in newspaper articles, and does not acknowledge priority of other designers.

Emoticons from 1881

Typographical smileys------------------------ The satrirical U.S. magazine Puck presented these typographical emoticons on March 30, 1881. ------------------------------------------------------ Many typographical representations of smiley faces have been developed over the years. Some feature non-smiling expressions or other elaborations. They come in two main varieties, those meant to be viewed sideways, and those meant to be seen upright. ----------------------------------------------------- The First Smiley :-)---------------------------- The smiley :-) and its many variants are an important (and fun!) part of the worldwide online social culture -- allowing emotions to be conveyed in plain text. It has been in widespread use since the early '80s, when it was first proposed. Yet the original message in which the smiley was invented had been lost -- until now. :-) After a significant effort to locate it, on September 10, 2002 the original post made by Scott Fahlman on CMU CS general bboard was retrieved by Jeff Baird from an October 1982 backup tape of the spice vax (cmu-750x). Here is Scott's original post: ------------------------------------------------------ 19-Sep-82 11:44 Scott E Fahlman :-) From: Scott E Fahlman ----------------------------------------------------- I propose that the following character sequence for joke markers: -------- :-) ------- Read it sideways. YELLOW, acid, house, SMILEY

Bomb the Bass, Beat Dis

In the UK, the smiley is associated with, among other things, the acid house dance music culture that emerged during the second summer of love in the late 1980s. The face was used as an engraved logo on ecstasy tablets at the time. The association was cemented when the band Bomb The Bass used an extracted smiley from Watchmen on the centre of its Beat Dis hit single.

Ch.2 - RED II

More than a hope to win, i am finally more in a position to purpose a totally coherent connection between red and yellow associadted to Graphic Design. Maybe an attack where Red and Yellow don't have a winner ? :D ------------------------------------------------------- Have you ever noticed that all the logos for major fast food chains are in red, yellow or both colors? It had something to do with the psychology of colors and graphic design more than anything did. In graphic design color classes, they define that yellow is supposed to be associated with quickness and speed while red is supposed to stimulate appetite. Color has direct physiological effects on the brain. Red increases pulse, blood pressure, and respiration while yellow is the easiest colors that can be seen from the longest distance. However, many people still don’t agree to this theory of merging bright red and yellow for restaurants because they think these colors are not pleasant and relaxing, so those who choose to sit down to eat won’t stay long.

Ch.2 - RED I - general qualities

Several studies have indicated that red carries the strongest reaction of all the colors, with the level of reaction decreasing gradually with orange, yellow, and white, respectively.Because of this, scientists have repeatedly recommended red for warning signals, labels, and signs. Because of these recommendations, red has seen widespread use as a danger signal, in stop signs, to warn people of extreme heat or flammability, and even to signal warnings in sports such as soccer (see: penalty card). Red has a wavelength of 700nm, this makes the color 40 times more visible than any other colors. Seeing this color, makes heartbeat accelerate.

ORANGE, Dutch

CONCLUSION ORANGE is connected to a small but important kingdom. France does not have a kingdom at all, so less history for that as well. I know that you guys have Napoleon, but that did not really exist for centuries. During competitions worldwide, everybody knows who are the Dutch fans. They have a funny way of dressing up to support their sports players. The ORANGE soccer team won from France during the soccer world cup in 2008 with 4-1.
